Internal linking is a link from one web page to other pages within the same website, where the content is related. This is one way to assist in navigating the Google crawler page of our site. In addition, internal links also allow our website visitors to find the other information is still relevant. Surely this will make the visitors will be longer on our site. Basically, the internal linking in your website / blog is one very important part in improving the onsite SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

For me personally, the main purpose of internal linking is to make it easier to navigate a search engine, indexing all the pages, and see the overall structure of my blog. Structure neat website that will make all your website pages well indexed in the Search Engines, and this means your web page will easily be matched with user search in a Search Engine, eg Google.

1. Increasing usage and user experience on your site

Actually had a lot of blogs that discuss the importance of internal linking for SEO, but it's actually not the only benefits. As already mentioned above, the internal links will be easier for visitors to navigate your website and open the other content pages on your website.

Imagine someone who found a link of your article in the Google search results. After they read it and find the information they need, chances are they will close your web page or press the back button. By contrast, if they find the anchor text links in your article about the other information that may be of interest to visitors. This link will direct the reader to other posts that are still in touch. And if they like your writing, maybe he'll be a subscriber of your blog and will return again in the future.

Internal links can make the visitor linger on your blog and open the other pages on the blog. Make visitors feel at home in your blog will reduce bounce rate (bounce rate) of your website, and this is very important because Google takes into account the level of bounce rate as a metric in determining whether your blog has quality content or not. If visitors leave your blog so fast, I can assume that the blog does not provide a benefit to the reader, and this could result in a decrease of your blog ranking in Google search engine.

2. Improve SEO (Search Engine Optimization) your site

By creating internal links, you help the search engine spiders to crawl your site easily and quickly. Post a lot of content with internal links will certainly be better than letting the post page there is no link to another page of your post.

Creating internal links to other pages with relevant keywords is a very effective way to increase the SEO value of your post. Obviously this is very easy to do. For example, a business or blog you are engaged in laundry services, you can create internal links using the keyword phrase "Cheap Laundry Services" from the post that talks about clean clothes to get to your other posts that offer laundry services at low prices. It will help Search Engines to understand the content of your website as a whole.

3. Increased visibility within your website content

With increasing time, the content within the website / blog of course will be growing from day to day. Some content may only be drowned and increasingly hard to find by the visitors of your website because of the new content.

If you have a page of content you want to show it to visitors of your blog, but apparently the page is not as popular as other pages, then you can add a link to that page in another content page which is quite often read your blog visitors.

You can show the contents long yours by placing internal links to them in the post popular and frequently visited your blog readers. The more pages of your blog that is open to visitors and is accessible by the search engine, then the visibility of your blog, the better. Surely this will give better results on the website as well as your business.

This Note When Making Internal Linking

If we do it right, then we will see good results in the Google search page. In the use of WordPress, some webmasters 'submit' task of making the internal linking on a plugin, eg plugins Search Term Tagging 2 (STT2).

This WP Plugin (STT2) can indeed help us in making the internal linking automatically based on keywords and tags, with an unlimited number. However, in reality, a lot of users who do not understand how to set it up so it makes internal linking within the website became uncontrollable. Instead of getting a good result, it will make the blog dianngap SPAM by search engines.

Therefore, note the following when making internal linking:

  • Create internal linking to relevant pages.
  • Create internal linking appropriately, not too much.
  • Use anchor text and varies according to the intended page.
  • Perform regular internal linking.

As you can see on this blog, I use the plugin to create a related post in each post, but I also made towards internal linking related pages manually.
